Many different types of indexing are currently offered. Every section has these:

Organisation name index
These indexes include all organisation names, alternative names, translated names, acronyms and abbreviations, former names.

All names index:
In addition to the main name, this searches the names of associated, parent and subsidiary organisations and branch offices. For publishers it also finds imprints, representatives and distributors; for libraries: named collections. Useful if the organisation name search fails.

Personal name index
Selects the organisation by the name of an individual employee.

Job title index:
Selects organisations with a named individual in a particular job, such as Sales, or Production.

Geographic indexes
The printed EBW product allows selection by country and town; the electronic products also offer selection by postcode and street.

Subject index
The subjects are based on the organisations' own replies (not on a fixed list of subjects) supplemented by our own classification with over 3,500 subjects.

Publication physical format index

Foreign Languages index
provided for : Publishers, Libraries, Booksellers, Printers, Literary agents, Prizes
finds publishers or libraries or booksellers etc stocking or publishing languages other than the national language - the range is from Afrikaans to Yoruba!

Contact language index:
(useful for mailing option): use in conjunction with selection by country for bilingual countries.

where do they sell?

Fax and telephone number indexes:
Retrieves organisations by their fax or telephone numbers or area code prefixes. Typing the prefix code on its own retrieves all organisations with that code prefix.

'Size' indexes
There are indexes indicating the size of an organisation, e.g.

finds publishers from the ISBN number of a publication
International activities:
Finds publishers taking part in international rights, or co-production, or who are willing to manufacture books internationally
Territories distributed in: Finds publishers with distributors in a particular geographic area.
Territories of distributors: Territories of distributors or publishers acting as distributors.
Territories of reps: Geographic territories of publishers acting as representatives.
Territories represented in: Finds publishers with representatives in a particular geographic area.

finds libraries of a particular type
Facilities index: Equipment, special sections and facilities available to users
Current periodicals index
in addition to selection by 'number of volumes' or 'number of titles' indexes, libraries can by selected by the number of current periodical they subscribe to.
Qualified librarians index
in addition to selection by 'number of employees' , libraries can be selected by the number of qualified librarians.

Booksellers indexes
Customer services index: Special services to clients provided by booksellers.
Bookseller type index: finds general categories of bookseller (eg retail, bookshop, mail order, distributor, wholesaler)
Supplier index: For booksellers (eg publishers' reps, wholesalers, remainder dealers)
Special stock: eg Open University texts, antiquarian, secondhand.

Book manufacturers' specialities
Printing index: Printers with particular specialities (eg very short run, art colour).
Binding index : Finds book manufacturing firms with particular binding specialities.
Composition index: Finds typesetting firms with particular specialities (eg mathematics, data conversion).
Finishing index: Finds book manufacturing firms with particular finishing specialities (eg lamination, foil blocking)
Repro index: Finds reprographic firms with particular specialities (eg electronic scanning).

Literary prizes and awards
Applicant index: Finds literary prizes or awards for a particular category of author.
Subject matter index: Finds literary prizes and awards specialising in a particular subject area.
Literary Work index: Finds literary prizes or awards for a particular type of literary work.
